In Your Atmosphere – John Mayer

I CANNOT get over this song…

I don’t think I’m gonna go to LA anymore
I don’t think I’m gonna go to LA anymore
I don’t know what it’s like to land and not race to your door
But I don’t think I’m gonna go to LA anymore

I don’t think I’m gonna go to LA anymore
I’m not sure that I really ever could
Hold on to a hotel key
in your bedroom neighborhood
With me sleep walking in Hollywood

I’m gonna steer clear
Burn up in your atmosphere
I’m gonna steer clear
Cause I’d die if I saw you
I’d die if I didn’t see you there
So I don’t think I’m gonna go to LA anymore

I dont think I’m gonna go to LA anymore
Get lost on the boulevard at night
Without your voice to tell me
I love you, take a right
The ten and the two is a lonely sight

I’m gonna steer clear
Burn up in your atmosphere
I’m gonna steer clear
Cause I’d die if I saw you
I’d die if I didn’t see you

I’m gonna steer clear
Burn up in your atmosphere
I’m gonna steer clear
Cause I’d die if I saw you
I’d die if I didn’t see you there, see you there

I think I’m gonna stay gonna stay, gonna stay in the grey, think i’m gonna stay
All the street lights say nevermind nevermind
All the canyon lines say nevermind
Sunset says we see this all the time, nevermind never you mind

Post Bridge:
Where ever I go
What ever I do
I wonder where I am in my relationship to you

Where ever you go
Where ever you are
I watch your life play out in pictures from afar

Where ever I go
what ever I do
I wonder where I am in my relationship to you

Where ever you go
Where ever you are
I watch your life play out in pictures from afar

The Lake

I’ve been at Lake Ozark since Sunday and today, Tuesday, it’s raining something terrible. We were supposed to have a boat rental for 5 hours, but had to postpone it until tomorrow as none of us want to die. So, The Girl and I are going to see Dark Knight (finally), and hopefully afterwards I can score a bucket of crawfish and a few beers.

We’re back in town on Thursday, sunburned and rested.

Good Girl Comics

I love StumbleUpon. Stumbled on this site, about “Good Girl” art and comics.

“Good Girl” art is a category that transcends normal comic book genres. Humor, adventure, sci-fi and more have all featured “Good Girl” art. “Good Girl” art is usually drawn in the pin up tradition. The scene might be risque for the time of publication. Prominent breasts (known as ‘headlights’) were the rule. “Good Girls” were usually athletic, smart women who might fall into precarious positions. So what about “Bad Girls”, you ask? Criminal bad girls are a much rarer breed, but they do appear.

Romance comics are fairly self-explanatory. They are comics for girls and feature stories of love and romance, often with surprisingly adult themes and situations.

Flooded 141 & 44 in Fenton, MO.

I finally got down to 141 and 44 and took some pretty good pictures until it started to snow. You can view the Flickr set. Normally, this intersection is jam packed and it’s quite strange to stand in the middle of a 6 lane highway and take pictures leisurely. Little Mary couldn’t grasp the concept of all the water being over the road. It bothered her so much that she’s still asking about it an hour after we’ve been there. A lot of people were popping in and out taking pictures of the intersection, but only a few of us were down on the median and road. A news crew was there shooting, but was on the SE side of 141. We were on the SW side. Out of nowhere snow started falling pretty quickly. 141 and 44 is quite eery. It was dark, cold, and very quiet.

Sock color should match your pants, not your shoes.

From The Art of Manliness, rules on the proper wearing of socks.

This is a rule that many people are confused about. I’ve heard numerous arguments about whether you should match socks with shoes or socks with pants. You should always match socks with pants because when you sit down and your socks are exposed, you want a solid line of color from your pants to your shoes. Socks that don’t match your pant color create a jarring break in your outfit. So black socks go with black pants and brown socks go with brown pants. Absolutely and under no condition should you ever wear white socks with dark pants unless you want to look like Steve Erkle or 1980’s Michael Jackson.

American Gladiators Drinking Game

From here.

The rules:

One drink every time:
– Hulk Hogan addresses someone as “brother”
– A replay of a Gladiator talking shit is shown
– Wolf howls like an idiot
– The announcer makes a bad pun referring to a Gladiators name
– A fan has a sign devoted to a certain Gladiator as if they know who they are or care what they do

Two drinks every time:
– A Contender beats a Gladiator
– A Contender refers to their participation being a dream/honor
– A Contender gets wet
– A Gladiator refers to themselves in the third person
– One of the female Gladiators is referred to as being attractive

Finish your drink if:
– Hogan says, “OH, YEEAAAHH”
– A Contender hits the target in Assault
– A Contender knocks the Gladiator off the platform in Joust
– Anyone has to withdraw because of injury
– Someone actually makes it to the end of the hand-bike without falling off in the Eliminator

My ‘04 Music Wrap-Up

I have been thinking about this post for far too long, and putting it off forever.

These are my top five favorite albums, either released or discovered, in 2004:

Final StrawSnow Patrol – Final Straw: If you haven’t heard this album, drop what you’re doing right now and downlo…err, run to the store and pick it up. If you can’t do that, hear a bit of it at their media site. My favorite track is Chocolate.

Hot FussThe Killers – Hot Fuss: You may have heard a bunch of their stuff played out on the radio. If this is a deterrent, ignore it. Is it rock with a heavy pop influence, or pop with a heavy rock influence? You decide, and then let me know.

Scissor SistersScissor Sisters – Self Titled: The best pop music, by far. Elton John meets the BeeGees and they go out back and drop a hit of acid. Coming back around the corner, in their place, the Scissor Sisters.

ODamien Rice – O: This album was released in 2003, but discovered by me in 2004. When you gotta get your sad bastard on, this is guy to do it with. Damien Rice is amazing lyrically and instrumentally. Accompanying him on almost every track is a woman by the name of Lisa Hannigan. Her voice begins where Damien Rice’s ends. They are quite the duo, and this is quite the album.

Any Given ThursdayJohn Mayer – Any Given Thursday: It’s hard to believe I only started listening to this album in 2004. About a year ago, in fact. John’s a smooth smooth bastard, and if you’re gonna check him out, I’d recommend this live album first. Once you hear him live, you’ll realize that he’s not some washed up adult contemporary yuppie.

Gender buttons.

I submitted a few more buttons to gtmcknight’s button site. They were gender bending related and can be found at the bottom of the “others” category. Spiffy. One of the buttons I submitted was not accepted probably due to the fact that it had the word “F**k” in it. It looked like this: fuckgender.gif I can dig that maybe he doesn’t want buttons like that on his site but I thought it was super neat-o and I find this to be my favorite of the buttons I have made. Too bad it wasn’t accepted. Those that were are all along the same gender bending/blending theme: girlboy.gif, boygirl.gif, and andro.gif. Of course, feel free to steal these and use them anywhere.

Missing music from Kill Bill vol. 1

There were a lot of tracks used in the movie during various scenes that were left off the soundtrack to Kill Bill vol. 1. I found this list, oddly enough, in a review of Kill Bill vol. 1 on Amazon.

The list is semi long so I’ve decided to make this an extended entry.

Of all of them I wanted the song where she first challenges Oren Ishii, called Death Rides a Horse. Well, I ‘found’ it.
